Beyond Web Intermediaries: A Framework for Securing Digital Content on Client Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cafes as a result of contents allowed through their networks is a welcome development in the fight against copyright violations and piracy of digital contents. Beyond this however, experts must also realize that consumers of content have unguided opportunities to exploit digital content for undue gains once placed at their disposals. This is particularly possible as a result of the intrinsic properties of digital contents when compared to analog contents such as newspapers and transmissions from satellite cable stations. For example, multiple replications of digital contents can be carried out in the comfort of a client's home using modern technologies such as CD-R/W or burners without degradation in quality. To counter this threats, new security technologies are required that persistently protect content throughout its lifetime. Conditional Access Systems (CAS) has been used to protect content delivered over cables. We present a framework for an analogous protection system for digital content on client systems as a viable technique for protecting digital content that have passed through Internet intermediaries.

Data Integrity Related Markup Language and HTTP Protocol Support for Web Intermediaries
In this paper, we propose the markup language framework and its associated HTTP protocol extension to support data integrity for active web intermediaries. There are three aspects that our language framework would like to focus on. Firstly, the content server can specify its intended authorization and task to multiple web intermediary proxies in its content objects easily. Secondly, a web inter...

The main solution to the problems of persistency and uniqueness in identification of digital objects in a web environment is provided by using digital identifiers instead of URL. The main basis of this solution is resolution mechanism that is used in digital identifier systems. Resolution is the use of indirect names instead of URLs; what worked for the DNS (Domain Name System) in stabilizing i...
متن کامل1 Security for Content Distribution Networks — Concepts , Systems and Research Issues
Previous research on content distribution networks (CDNs) mainly focuses on improving system performance by deploying replication such that latency for data access could be reduced and bandwidth could be saved, especially when dealing with large amounts of data. Centrallymanaged, trusted replicas are important characters in these traditional CDNs. However, there is not enough attention given to...
